*UPDATE* The chaps at Mindshare Paris have been sufficiently dismayed with the reception their little viral got that they have made the video private. They are adamant that it was for an internal audience, and that their target "loved it". There's a lesson to be learnt here - the best place for a targeted message certainly isn't YouTube. Oh, and "viral" isn't always a good thing folks.

Well I take this one as a tongue in cheek, mate. Aren't they simply taking the piss out of the viral videos that have been around, from "where is Matt" to "Free Hug" or the Nike stunts... Not exceptionnaly well executed but at least there is an attempt:)

Well, I do give them bonus points for trying. But it is still utter embarrassing shit. If you, as an agency, are going to make a parody it better be a fecking first class one. There are kids in Alabama with restrictive IQs and expansive waistlines who can make parodies too y'know. I'd hope for agencies future billings sake that they can produce a higher quality one than a child with a camcorder. And in this case, I'm afraid, metaphorical fat idiot kid wins.

I like your idea of the Eurovision evaluation. Mindshare Paris: 2 points, Mindshare Paris: zwei Punkte...
Otherwise, I am totaly behind you and that overweighed teenager from Alabama. It might not the worst agency attempt ever, but 1 point for trying to be more than cheesy is probably far enough(remember they are French, so they know their stuff when it comes to cheeses:). At least they had a hint of a concept which is way better than a black-holesque "let's lip sing on a dusty disco hit and try to compete with Hitchcock for longest sequence shot ever".
I liked back then the Draft FCB Second Life video: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=flkgNn50k14. There was a concept and the execution did not suck that much either.
But overall there seem to be a consensus from agencies that viral must be low key execution. But the hell, if you want me to be interested you'd better wow me. If your concept is not as strong as a Levis billboard by Scamp:) at least get the execution right.

My heart sank when I saw this. To say that it doesn’t exactly make me proud is an understatement, but what can I say, we're an agency of 6,000 so it’s a uphill struggle and sometimes those French kids can be kinda crazzzzy.
I’m off to check if we have an office in Alabama.
